Welcome to our Blackmore Vale Decorative and Fine Arts Society.  Please browse our site for our current programme of monthly meetings, Days of Special Interest, Visits and Evening Nadfas.

We normally meet on the first Thursday morning each month in Stalbridge Hall, Stalbridge DT10 2NF when we welcome a visiting speaker on a wide variety of topics from the world of art.  In addition, we have “Days of Special Interest” as well as a number of visits during summer months.  Membership of the Blackmore Vale DFAS opens up the world of arts to everyone as well as being a great way to make new friendships.

We are always pleased to welcome new members as well as guests – please see the “Join-Us” page on the menu above for more details.  You may join at any point in our programme and there is no waiting list.

Steward Volunteers Needed – July/Aug 2016

CAPABILITY BROWN EXHIBITION, MILTON ABBEY

6 July – 21 Aug 2016

Milton Abbey

Milton Abbey has been selected by the organisers of the Capability Brown Festival 2016 as one of fourteen regional ‘hubs’, in recognition of its outstanding quality. A major ‘multi-media’ exhibition will be the highlight of the local Festival.

The major exhibition in July and August will be called ‘A Capability Brown Experience’. The show will include a new film featuring John Phibbs, the leading expert on Brown, as narrator; artwork by Royal Academician Stephen Farthing; artist and author Tim Scott-Bolton; eleven artists of Dorset Visual Arts, embroidery from the National Guild, interactive digital imagery, photography from a range of leading photographers and games for children. The theme of the exhibition will be the ‘enjoyment of landscape, as well as built heritage, and its enhancement of quality of life’.

There will be a briefing/introductory meeting on Tuesday 31st May for everyone who would like to be a volunteer steward over the summer at Milton Abbey.

Coffee will be available at 11am in the Tea Room followed by a tour of the site.  Please remember to bring your diaries as the Volunteering Schedule will be there waiting to be filled!       The exhibition is open 10-5, half-day sessions are 10-1.30, 1.30-5.
